Deleting Movies

There are four ways to delete movies from the Tools -> Delete screens. You can select a single title to delete from the Single screen. You can select a multiple number of titles from an alphabetized list of all the movies in the database from the Multiple screen. You can delete all the movies in the database from the All screen. In the Personal Server edition you can also delete movies based on a MySQL query using the Command Line Delete screen (Cmd Line).

If a number of movies have been deleted, it is recommended to optimize the database from the Tools -> Delete -> Optimize screen. This procedure will reorganize your movie database so it will run more efficiently.

Delete Single (Tools -> Delete -> Single )

Title

As you key in the title, all titles starting with the letters entered thus far will be displayed in a drop down list below the title. By clicking on one of the titles from the list, the movie's information will be displayed on the screen.

Find

If you press the Find' button when the 'Title' field is empty, all movie titles in the database will be displayed as a link on a new screen. When you click on one of the movie title links, the movie information will be displayed on the 'Edit' screen.

If you enter a keyword in the title field then press the 'Find' button, all movie titles containing the keyword will be displayed as a link on a new screen. When you click on one of the movie title links, the movie information will be displayed on the 'Edit' screen.

When entering multiple keywords, each keyword must be separated by a comma.

Delete Multiple (Tools -> Delete -> Multiple)

All movies in your database will be listed in alphabetical order. You can select one or more movies at a time. To select multiple movies either hold down the Ctrl key each time you click on a movie or to select a range of movies, click on the first movie in the range then hold down the Shift key while you click on the last movie in the range. The movie(s) to delete will be highlighted. Press the 'Delete Movies' button to delete the selected movie(s).

Delete All (Tools -> Delete -> All)

When you press 'Delete All Movies' button ALL your movies will be deleted. The movie database will be truncated and reset like it was new. You do NOT need to run "Optimize Database" after you delete all movies.
