Get Movie Info From Amazon.com [GO] - For this option the UPC number for each movie must be entered in the text file. You cannot search Amazon by title from Cinema Premiere.

When this button is pressed, the text file is uploaded to the server and each movie in the text file is processed. Retrieving movie information from Amazon is much faster than retrieving it from IMDb.com although you typically do not get as much information. When it has completed, a list of all the movies and the title they were added as is displayed on the screen. This same information is written to the Log File (addlog.txt) which can be viewed or downloaded and edited from the Tools -> Add -> Log File screen. This is very useful if you used the 'Quick Add' so you can cross reference your movies to make sure they were added as the correct title. If a movie was not added correctly, Edit the movie, type in the correct title, press 'Get IMDb Info', select the correct title and press 'Update Database'.

If you enter a UPC number, you have the option of getting the movie information from Amazon.com or IMDb.com. If you choose Amazon and the UPC number is on file there, your movie database will be updated with the DVD or VHS movie information from Amazon. Be sure you select the correct media type because it is used as part of the search key at Amazon. If the UPC number is not on file at Amazon, then the UPC number is searched for at UPCdatabase.com. If found, the title is retrieved and used to search IMDb.com. If an exact match on the title is not found and 'Quick Add' is not checked, a list of all the closest matched titles to select from is displayed. Beside each title is a link to that title's movie information on IMDb.com so you can preview it before you select it. If you do not see a match you can select "Skip Selection" from the bottom of the screen.

If 'Quick Add' is checked, then the first title in the list, which is usually the closest match, is automatically selected.

Once the title is selected or an exact match on the title was found, the movie information is added to the database and the next movie is processed.

The time it takes to retrieve the movie information will vary, but has little to do with the speed of your internet connection. All processing is done at the server.
